Hello All!

I posted this question in another thread but since it was buried in there I thought I would give it its own thread to start a conversation. I would like to get my 2001 LS430 steering wheel controls to work with my aftermarket radio. I know there are no aftermarket SWC interface units that work with my LS430 (and I am soooo disappointed about that!!!). However, on this site I found a post where someone in the GS community retrofitted their controls to work; here is the post:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-2...-headunit.html

Essentially, the person modified his controls to work like resistance buttons that can be interfaced with his aftermarket radio. I am fairly confident that I can replicate the resistor network in the LS430 switches.

The way he delivered the button information was by using an unused connection on his clockspring (telephone connection) to route the signal from the steering wheel to his radio. What I don't know is which clockspring wires I can tap into to feed the signal from the buttons through the clockspring to my radio. Does anyone have a clockspring wiring diagram so I can determine which connection I can use for my version of the retrofit? Also, it would be helpful to know the physical location of the connections going into and out of the clockspring so I can choose one that would be close to the radio.

If successful, I promise to share my work (with pictures) with the forum in case someone want to replicate it. I really love my steering wheel controls and I will do almost anything to keep them!

Thanks!

Not sure about how to wire up a clock spring but...if yours happen to fail or if you need an extra one for any other reason, i have a brand new,OEM one for your car. I ordered the wrong part/year by mistake and got stuck with it. PM me if interested.
