Default Steering Wheel Tilt

I've recently encountered a issue with my steering wheel where it suddenly positioned itself at the highest height when I started my car last night. I've tried to position back to my normal setting however the dial only responds to pushing back and towards while the up and down function of the dial does nothing. I drive a 2004 Lexus LS430 and is the first time this has happened. Has anyone else encountered this problem and knows of a solution?

Check the fuse.

Driver's side next to your left foot. Should be named tele, or telescopic.

If the telescopic is working fine and the tilt is not you may have a motor that's going dead. You can access them under the dash. You can check the bushings and lubricate first to see if that helps. These cars are known for these motors going dead in the steering column. Do a search to get all the info you'll need.

Tilt motor repair or replace
