Talking Oil Pan Gasket

Removing the lower pan should be duck soup.

Drain oil,

Remove screws holding lower pan to upper pan. Be sure you get all of them.
Remove and clean pan. Scrape the sealing surface clean
Clean pan rail with alcohol.

Use a gasket with a tiny bid of gasket sealer. I think there is a gasket available for these cars. If so use it. Or get a tube of anaerobic sealer an use it to form a gasket.

re-install

Because you drained the oil, replace the oil filter to.

Thanks. Normally it isnt an issue but it sounds like there is a clearance issue with the rear bolts and the cross member. That's what I am checking.

If anyone is interested this is what I found out.

1. Felpro on amazon lower oil pan gasket doesn't fit.

2. There isn't clearance to take off all of the bolts/pan due to the cross member. So if finding a suitable spot to lift the engine\tranny scares you, this isn't the job for you.

3. Torque for bolts is 66 inch lbs.

4. If the threads are messed up on any of the bolts just buy new ones. They are 83 cents at the Toyota dealer.

Any other questions?

I suggest you use a gasket as robots apply perfect amounts of sealant from the factory as to not get extra into the pan.

Thanks Volson, just what I was looking for information wise. I will have my mech buddy do the work and be done with it. Oil leaks make me sad.....
