Question How long should ball joints last?

I have an '02 UL with 93,000 miles. How long should the ball joints last? I am hearing a noise in my front suspension that I haven't heard before (I don't think...sort of a clunking sound when down hill on a bump, bit never does the same up hill or on flat).

I assume even with air, the car has ball joints. When do they usually need replacing. I had my 90k service not that long ago.

Appreciate all responses.

I believe it has to do with driving conditions, age of car, locale, humidity, etc. I have an 06 and replaced mine at 72k that's been in S. Florida its whole life. It probably could have waited, but I felt an improvement in the ride (less steering wheel vibration).

Its more likely that the bushings have gotten old and dry rotted, causing some clunking. I'm at almost 240k miles on my LS, and, as far as I know, the ball joints are original and show no signs of being bad.

Default Thanks

Should I have a Lexus mechanic check the bushings out or the place where I get my tires?

I replaced mind at about 125k. My local Lexus dealer and master mechanic said their was nothing wrong with mine but I felt a difference when I installed the new ones. I went with Beck Arnley at about 1/3 the OEM cost. No regrets. Quality parts.
