Just purchased a 2003 with 106,000 miles. Timing belt and water pump changed at 95,000. Anything I should be on the lookout for. It is amazingly clean with Sport Suspension

At 103k miles with the major TB/WP requirement done you should have smooth sailing for another 75k or so! Check to see if it needs a spark plug change, that's really it I would think..

I just bought an 05 with 110,000 miles. Took her on a 2500 mile road trip with no problems whatsoever. I was surprised at the low mpg I got, but that could be due to the snow tires. I'll be doing a drain and fill on the ATF a couple times this summer, but nothing planned until plugs at 120,000. Enjoy!

 

I currently have almost 118,000 miles with what I believe are the original plugs. Car runs smooth as silk. I've read about one owner on this forum changing his original plugs at 150,000 miles and pictured the plugs with only some wear. I'm not planning on changing plugs at this time with the car running this good.

 

Welcome.

Clean the throttle body, clean the maf sensor, and replace the plugs. At 100k miles they need it. Pull one if you don't believe me. Run a bottle of Duralube Extreme fuel system cleaner.

Also, do the fluids if not already done. Power steering, brakes, differential, and transmission.

 

Please excuse our squaking over the fluids. You're probably thinking, 'this car is a 10/10, how can it get any better?'

and the answer is that fresh fluids are the easy way to turn these cars up to 11/10.

If you get top quality synthetic fluids in your car, and clean it out, the car will arguably run better than it did when it left the factory.

I'm a huge fan of Redline Power Steering Fluid in our steering racks, Redline Light Shockproof gear oil in our diffs, and Toyota D4 ATF.

Redline motor oil rocks, but I don't think it's a good value in our cars. I use Toyota 0w-20 because I live in Minnesota and park my car outside while I'm at work and feel better about the thin oil, but I would use Mobile 1 5w-30 or 0w-30 high milage otherwise. Although our engines are known to be easy on oil and any modern synthetic 5w-30 should do the trick.

Plugs are plugs (as long as denso or NGK make them!) but I think NGK is the coolest and you should too.

And the brake fluid is good too, just for the piece of mind.

If you're mechanically inclined, these procedures will take two weekend afternoons to do. You could do this all in a weekend afternoon if you work fast.

And on the outside... to really make it shine.. clay bar, wax and polish will really bring out the paint color and the shine and make the exterior smooth as the windshield.

Thanks for all the good advice. I will start with the fluids and the plugs. I spent a little more than planned, but isn't that what always happens. I just didn't think I could find this nice of car for the $$$. I feel very fortunate.
