Default Chrome Mouldings

Hello all. The chrome moulding is starting to bubble and peel off off the rear bumper on my 04 LS430. Can this be removed and replaced easily? If so what's the best way to go about removing it?

Yep they can be removed. It's just held on by double sided tape.

Get a plastic pryer and a heat gun, just heat any of the edges, don't go to extreme so you don't ruin the bumper.

Apply heat until your pryer gets under and then it should just peel off.

When you order the new chrome piece it should have the same double sided tape. Start by snugging about an in inch in the covered slot where the bumper meets the fender, then press it on the bumper all the way around.

The moulding (front or back) is available at Rock Auto for about $32.00 plus shipping

I want to replace the chrome moulding around the rear windshield that is looking shabby but it's more involved. you have to have a windshield installer uninstall it, put the new moulding in, and reinstall. If it happens to break you're screwed though...it has the radio antenna and defroster in it...major expensive. That's the only thing preventing me from doing it.

I tried the chrome molding from Rock Auto. Didn't like the molding, or the service. They sent me one used molding, and neither one really matches the size and profile of the OEM molding.
