Default 2001 LS430 UL - Screen issue, is this normal?

I did a search but couldn't find an answer. Bought the car the other day and I'm wondering if this is normal. My screen does work to show radio/climate but it turns off after like 20 seconds? I have to refresh it by pressing a button again. Is there a way to make it stay on or is something wrong with my screen?

Thanks in advance,

Radio & climate will not stay on continuously. Normal for those screens to shut off after several seconds. The only screen that stays on continuously is the Navigation screen, if you don't have the "screen transition off" button activated.

I think I have seen somewhere in the menu, a setting for "automatically transition to nav screen" or something to that effect. However mine is set now, it WILL show the climate or audio screen for a whole trip.

Tom, are you sure about that? My screen will continuously display whatever I select. It never blanks out.

Yes, but it can be shut off. Touch "Option" button on side of Nav, then "Information" on the screen, then "Screen Transition" and then you will see this screen allowing automatic return to Navigation / screen off, or not automatic. I have mine set to "On" for automatic screen transition.

Thanks in advance,
Suggest that you read your Owner's Manual, as well as the separate Navigation Manual.

I also make this suggestion that people read the Owner's Manual. But, this machine is very complex and it is hard to sit down, read the manual, and remember all the details that are included.

My UL has always displayed whatever mode I select. I am always unhappy when they give me a new Lexus when being serviced/maintained, and I very much dislike the fact that the screen always reverts to navigation. I just don't need the navigation on all the time, as most of my driving is local.

I didn't even realize that our cars have the option to set the nav display. Learn something new quite frequently. Thought I knew everything about my car!
