prices for winter tires
I went shopping today and discovered the cost for 4 Michelin Xi 3 tires, installed, balanced and taxes in this city is over $ 900
If you go with a middle of the road tire like the noisy Firestone Winterforce, it's still $ 725
I can't believe you guys in the USA have to pay these kind of prices !
Anyone know what tires cost in Buffalo ?

Is this a rhetorical question or a serious one? Without certain specifics like tire size you were looking for, it's a little tough to provide you any more details. Tirerack.com will help you assess costs.

Just checked Tire Rack and Dunns Tire .... once you "include" the time to drive there and back, plus the exchange rate .... it's not worth the $150 net that could be saved. And to declare the purchase at the border, to be honest and not risk getting your car impounded - and pay duty and taxes, well its just a wash
Plus if there is any problem with the tires, its way better to have bought them from a local vendor who can help you.
Oh well .... $ 900 for 4 tires is a bit crazy.

18's are 203 dollars on Tirebuyer. Call around to tirerack or buyer they will tell ya if they know if a 70 dollar rebate is coming up. Winter is almost over been mild here in Wisco. The Xice3 I have been very happy with, its a big tire with fat meaty tread.

Well, I saved $ 250 and bought Hancook I Pikes. The store told me if I wasn't happy after the first storm to bring them back for full credit and they will put on the Michelin Xi3 I had the previous version on my Acura and they were awesome.
They are a LOT quieter than the worn Firestone Winterforce tires they replaced. Also the design looks more like a conventional snow tire to me than the Xi3 Every place I went yesterday said the Michelins are the best on ice ( stopping distance ) and Bridgestone are the best on clean cold pavement, but on snow covered roads I would not be able to notice any difference. Because my main worry in winter is getting stuck in deep snow and driving in a snow storm, so I was willing to give these a try.
$ 742 out the door including taxes and installation. And I get a $ 40 rebate... sweet !
