Got a new toy - Getting out of the Lexus game for a while
Hey guys
its sad but after like 6 months of research and studying I realize that we have really reached the pinnacle of what lexus has to offer.
I wanted an ls460 really bad but after a test drive and looking into all the issues I just couldn't do it..not yet...not for the price they are still commanding, so I started looking into other cars and theres really nothing else that lexus has that Im interested in.
I considered the sc430, nice car, looks great modified , but its pretty much an ls430 with two doors and removable top...which is cool but I really wanted something different.
I test drove a Mercedes cl600 v12 TT, a 500 HP monster , even though it was very reasonably priced it it became apparent they are just too problematic and expensive to maintain.
Looked briefly into Jaguar, and then quickly scrapped that idea.
Finally stumbled across this gem, 6 speed , 80 000 miles , black on black , fixed roof coupe also known as the FRC.
The exterior is amazing, engine and tranny are solid and powerful...but the interior ,,, sheesh ,,, its horrible.
Its nowhere near Lexus quality , but oh well,,its fun to drive ,,,and once I slap some wheels on and a few mods it will be a great car to enjoy.

You'll love the car man. LS engines are super reliable and cheap to maintain. Is this a base model ls1? I've made stupid power going to an ls6 intake, a bigger cam, and a tune.

Man its a blast to drive.
I don't think its a bse model , it has the HUD, traction control and I THINK it has the Z suspension package but im still trying to find that out.
But Yes that's the main reason I got it , because of the engine .
It can handle a lot of power and seems to be pretty solid and reliable.
Im actually not a speed demon, I just like the low end torque and the 6 speed .
I don't wanna do much to the engine other then maybe an intake, headers and full exhaust.

I've got an 06 Z06 and just love it. But as we say, friends don't let friends drive C5's. Just kidding. Went to drivers school at Spring Mountain and got to drive a C5 Z on the track; absolutely loved it. Don't get hooked.

I almost purchased a C5 Vette before the LS430. A few years ago I had a 6 speed 2006 (base model), I still miss it but I don't miss the constant tickets. I had a problem with lead foot. Hah. Very different vehicles but each one is near the best at what they were built for (for the price). I have a very thorough checklist for things to look for in a C5 before purchasing, I would have sent it to you had I known you were looking.
All 2000 model FRCs had the Z51 package. Also it should identify it as a Z51 in the glove box along with other options.
I used to be a part of Corvette forum. I'd also recommend joining them. They regularly schedule meets, cruises and get togethers. Don't forget to wave at other Corvettes Enjoy

The previous owner thought it did have the package but wasn't sure, and he was very up front and honest about that, so thanks for the confirmation.
Also ive been a member of corfette forums for about a year now , its a very fun and active forum, a lot going on and a lot of friendly support.
I was able to drive the vette for the first two days I got it , then we had that horrible snow storm and that quickly put an end to that lol

nice man , everyone that gets into one seems to get hooked
Yea man in all honesty the 430 is the best car ive drove in overall, its so well built it puts nearly everything else to shame.
I have seen u trolling the 460 forums for a while, I really wanted to upgrade to one, but the right one didnt come my way and I didn't want to deal with any of the known issues.

The title of the thread implies you traded or sold your LS430. Oh no ladies and gentleman he is getting out of the game... Well, no he is still playing. He just has both of his hands full of dice now. But I don't think you will roll at a 14 or 22. I'll put $5 on the pass line.
