Steer clear of them... too man to choose from that don't have accident history and are from sunbelt areas driving very cautiously by older, retired persons. Look in Florida and TX. That's my vote.
My first LS spent summers in grand rapids, and winters in Palm Springs so I beat the heat and the salt. I called the previouse owner as all the receipts for dealer service where in the glove box and it was snowing. He told me it was the first flakes the car had ever seen. Good luck keep looking but 8k is gonna be tough man.
I wouldn't buy a used car from the snow belt at gunpoint. I have bought 3 over the years from people swearing they were clean and never ever driven in winter. Every single bolt underneath all of them required heat and an impact wrench to remove.
There are too many Sunbelt cars to ever put myself through that again. it only costs a weekend driving or a $1000 to ship from the Southwest or Florida. You can't begin to replace the corrosion on anything for that.
You are very picky and that is good. How many people drive and or get cars from the south and go out of their way? Not many I know, you can get decent midwest cars with the new builds especially if yur not our to spend alot of dough. Now if yur a purist more power to ya.
