I'm sorry, in my previous post I forgot that the car also comes with a wallet key. Consists of a flat key (almost with no head) to unlock the door and a mini ignition key that includes the computer chip to allow it to start the car. Cute as a button, but I would never put it in a wallet and sit on it. Women might find it okay for a purse.
I just leave it in the house for an emergency I guess. I even forgot about it.
I just had a wallet key cut at local lexus dealer and actually keep in wallet and can't even feel it. Good for piece of mind if you lock your keys in car or trunk. Ask me how I know lol
The first time my smart key battery ran down, I found that I couldn't unlock the car when I touched the door handle and I nearly panicked, wondering what I was going to do being stranded at the mall. Then I remember that the key fob has a retractable key on it. I was nearly embarrassed. Funny how you get so used to these things.
Thanks, after all the compliments on this forum and driving the car for a week, I agree, I now think I got a screaming deal. I don't.think a nicer car could be had for $18K.
My guess is I didn't pay any extra for the custom luxury ($5,000 MSRP) saddle interior ($2,100 MSRP) 18 inch chrome wheels ($2K MSRP) or smart key ($1K MSRP)
It probably also helped that it was at a Chevy dealer and not a Lexus dealer. In any case, they had it for sale for over a month before I bought it. Starting price was $21K then $20K and just dropped to $19K before I bought it. Took me a week to get them down to $18K.
