There should be an OBD port under the dashboard. Plug the wireless adapter to that port. Then use your smart phone to connect to it. It can be bluetooth or WIFI.
You need an app to monitor the data or clear code, Engine Link is the one i used.

I have tried both WIFI and Bluetooth Low Energy adapter. For the WIFI one, you need to manually switch WiFi connection in Setup every time.

For Bluetooth Low Energy one LELink, it does auto connect, no setup is needed. And I still can use Bluetooth to pair with my car’s hands free system simultaneously. Like it a lot.
