Occasionally when we attempt to unlock the doors by taking hold of the handle the doors do not unlock then we have to press the unlock button on the smart key. This is an intermittent issue that cannot be repeated at will. It occurs with both of our keys. We try to keep our keys more than 15 feet away from the car, have replaced the battery in both keys, cycled the deactivation button, disconnected the car battery to cycle the system initialization, talked with dealer service personnel, searched this and other forums all to no avail. I fear that the problem is in the "ECM/ECU". We first noticed the issue about one year ago and have replaced the key batteries twice.

Another issue we have experience which may or may not be related is that the car alarm will trigger without any apparent provocation when the car is locked at a parking lot. This issue has occurred about four or five times over the past year.

Has anyone had a similar issue, if so how were you able to correct it?
