I have found a set of snow tires on MSW rims I am interested in for my 2003 LS430. The snow tires are almost new - less than 1,000 miles. They were used on a 2005 Mustang and bought from Tire Rack. The 17" rims have the same offset (45mm) and bolt pattern. I believe these are 17 x 7.5 with a backspacing of 6.02", while the ones spec'd for the LS would be 17 x 8 with a backspacing of 6.26". If I understand backspacing correctly, these rims would provide an additional 1/4" of clearance from the struts. Would they also stick out an additional 1/4" from the wheel well?
I should also note that the snow tires are 235s vs. 225s. Is this additional 1/4" of backspacing along with the wider tire any cause for concern? Thanks!
good job, mate!
you are correct, 7.5" wide +45 offset = 6" backspace (2.5" front space)
and 8" wide +45=6.2" backspace (2.8" front space)
and yes, they would stick out a mere .3"
as for the tires, they are only 10mm wider.
so i bet there will absolutely zero problems with fitment either fender side or strut side.
