Default Good price for TB/WP replacement!

Our Acura dealer has an advertised special for Timing belt and WP replacement ..$799 for most makes and models...my LS430 is almost ten years old and could use this service. I called my local Toyota dealer and asked I'd they would match the price. Not only did they agree, but offered to use OEM belt, water pump, the correct Toyota pink coolant, etc. This doesn't include idlers, or tensioners but I don't think my low mileage car will need these... for all of you out there who may need this done, consider your Toyota dealer, especially one whose service dept. has a good reputation.

I would only recommend that a Toyota or Lexus dealership do this job, and insist on 100% genuine Toyota parts. They need to change the timing belt, water pump, tensioner bearing, idler bearing, hydraulic tensioner and thermostat to really have done it right! - the OEM parts kit with the real Toyota original parts can be purchased for around $200

here is a video of the entire procedure by a guy doing his first one, he did a good job, except for not using a torque wrench on reassembly!

I've used toyota dealers in the past and had good results and good work performed. And much cheaper than Lexus...OK..no free loaner cars, but then, I didn't really need it.

To save even more you can, you buy the Aisin TKT-021 Engine Timing Belt Kit form Amazon for $153 and have your mechanic charges only labor.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008EEYWKI/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008EEYWKI/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
. You need to order thru amazon for $153 not third party. It says delivery within 1 to 2 months but I ordered last week and got mine yesterday. However YMMV. The kit comes with Aisin water pump, Mitsuboshi timing belt (OEM) and other accessories.

You have to look on the right side near add to cart buttun and right below it you will see Amazon as seller and $153 or so price.
Always look there when you buy anything on Amazon and also checkout waehouse deals.
If Amazon doesn't have it in stock then they don;t list as a main listing.

Also, most of the time Amazon will source the item quickly from other suppliers after you placed an order and you can cancel anytime before it ships. I was anticipating 1 month delivery time when I placed my order but was surprise to receive it within a week. Again YMMV.

I just replaced the timing belt and water pump using the kit I got from Amazon. My LS has 115K miles. The timing looks to be in very good shape. It can probably go another 50K miles but the water has developed a tiny leak.

That's interesting. My kit was $127 shipped through Amazon. The order also said delivery within one to two months but I got it two weeks later. I'm surprised they raised the price.

That's the first time I've seen a water pump leak. I need to take a look at mine.

While shopping for the LS, I came across a one owner 2004 LS with 70K miles that advertised timing belt and water pump replacement done. I inquiry with the owner why replaced the timing belt and water pump so early and he said the water pump was leaking. It maybe more common that you think.

How does your car feel now as compared to before the service? Might sound like a dumb question but does it have more spirit or what?

NO NO! Not a dumb question at all.

When I picked up the car, I punched it and it did feel like it had more oomph! It feels a lot more responsive and the shifting is much better. I did have a MY12 ES as a loaner for three days so im sure I got use to that and when I got my LS back, it just felt more planted to the ground, heavier & responsive when accelerating.
