Default Rear Door Speakers

HI, I have a 01 ls430ul with Mark Levinson Audio. I know I need a new rear door mid/low range speaker because one side sounds terrible like the foam is bad while the other is perfect sounding. My dealer showed me a diagram with two speakers per door. One right in back of the speaker grill 6.5" round (which is the one I suspect I need) but he is also showing me a high range tweeter mounted higher in the door. I have seen newer ls430's with a small round tweeter behind a small speaker grill high up in each rear door panel but mine does not have the speaker grill and I suspect there is no seperate high mounted tweeter because I can not hear it. I hear the mid/low as well as high range sounds all coming from in back of the speaker grill in the lower portion of the door. Is he wrong and do I have some earlier build where the tweeter and mid range is combinde in one or is the tweeter really up hign in back of the door panel with no speaker grill? Please advise.

As soon as you remove the panel you'll see that dealer is right. Rear has a 4" midrange speaker and a 1" tweeter on each side. This is a picture of a 4" midrange speaker:

As you can see, you can remove each speaker separately. Any 4" aftermarket will fit. I put Alpine Type S coaxial speakers in mine leaving a stock tweeters in place. They sound great.
Hope this helps.
