Does anybody know when is the next generation of LS series coming up? What would it be called? LS 500?

Most likely April to June of 2013 as a 2013 model. I doubt it will be a base 5 liter engine. I would not be surprised if it came down to 4.5 so LS450. Who knows...

 

There's a story right here on CL about next gen speculation based on comments from the Lexus Chief Engineer and references an LS450h.

The story teases about what the grille might look like and I sure hope they don't put that monstrosity on the front of an LS....YUK

With the GS just introduced being the base for everything, let's just hope like the ES is a small version of the GS while the LS becomes a bloated up GS with no decidedly differentiators in design.

If the LS is going to be a LS450H meaning it will be a smaller engine, doubt the gas engine will be bigger than now.
