Default How to remove woodgrain?

I decided to cover up my woodgrain with carbon fiber vinyl. Anyone have experience with this? Yes I know, I can apply the vinyl while its still attached but I find it hard to cut out the shape for the center console.

Look for the threads about replacing the ashtray with the center console box. There are a number of posts about different methods of pulling up the woodgrain panels. I found a little metal hook somewhere in the house, taped up the end, and used it to slide in next to the panel, turn, and pull gently.

Thank you kind sir. Are the woodgrains glued together? Tape? Or clip on?

I was going to start a similar thread to this but for another reason. I'm trying to figure out how to get the piece above the glove box off.

As for your questions the panels for the center console are held in place by clips. It is actual wood grain laminated to the panel. Not stuck on with tape or anything. If you do a search you will find multiple threads detailing how to remove this piece.

The wood trim is real wood with a heavy acrylic(?) finish bonded to a plastic substrate. I would advise testing the vinyl covering is a very inconspicuous place to determine that it can be removed cleanly. While you may like the carbon fiber look, it will turn off many potential buyers when you sell the car in the future.

True, I will have to look into that. I might consider picking up a different set just in case.
