Absolutely. Idlers and tensioner should always be replaced.

I got mine done. at 145027 miles he replaced Timing belt, water pump, Front crank seal, cam seals, timing belt idler, timing belt tensioner, serpentine belt, throttle body service and replaced the air filter. $1446.64. He gave me a discount. PM me for his name and phone number. He is in Westwood on old hook road. Is that close enough to you?

Was that the first time the timing belt was changed? How did the belt look at 145027 miles?

Yes it was the first time. I did not ask to see it but I am glad it was done.

Default 2006 rx330

Just had my timing belt replaced on my 2006 RX330 at 130,000 miles. The old belt looks like new. Should I have waited?

No, you're good for another 100K+ miles now - as long as you replaced the belt tensioner and idlers as well.

Waht do tensioners and idlers feel like or sound like if they are worn out or ready to fail? Never get it done on mine the Yota techs always tell me they are fine, 8 of 10 they leave em unless they appear to need replacement.

Hey warm, these parts may not / typically don't manifest signs or symptoms of wear before failure. Conservative folks just replace them as a preventative maintenance, like doing WP with TB. As you know, they're buried under the cam timing covers, and for the relatively insignificant parts cost, replacing them gives peace-of-mind. I understand though that sometimes you may hear a slight whine or even a high-pitched whistle-like noise at RPMs higher than idle, if these parts start "talking" with wear. Of course, isolating sounds on a running engine is always a challenge, as the alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor, serpentine belt and even water pump can make similar noise when worn. If an idler seizes, or the tensioner suddenly allows too much slack in the TB, bye-bye 3UZ-FE.
