If you can afford an A8 new, $200 is a drop in the bucket

DIY probably runs about $100. About what it cost for my old Audi A6 4.2 V8
Oil change is only required twice a year

Does anyones know what year Audi started the executive seat option in the back? Is it just on the W12 or is it on the V8 also? I know I have seen the previous body style with that option before, but can never find any for sale.

The ride quality in an A8 is nothing to write home about, almost felt uncomfortable. The interior and exterior design is leaps and bounds ahead of the ls-430 though.

I pretty much like all cars in this category, S550, 750Li, A8, LS460L, and even the new Jag. Represent the very best of what there brand has to offer.

Agreed! All these big names are making some really sweet rides I wouldn't mind owning down the road.

about 4 months ago i determined a list of finalists for my next car in the 40-50k range and the list came down to:
maserati quadraporte
audi a8 w12
bmw 760
s600 or s65 (65 would be amazing but very lucky to find one in my $$ range) 07+

i am leaning more towards the mb s600

most got around 12-15 mpg's but i think the 600 could achieve 18 on the highway if you drove it soft.

that new a8L is a head turner and has caught me looking twice a few times lately on my commutes.

Very nice list! I love the Quattroporte for the sound alone...I would uninstall the radio and just listen to the Ferrari sourced powertrain all day long. The S600 will probably be the most luxurious out of all of them, not to mention the legendary vault like build quality the S class is known for (well the W140 anyway). Why not consider an S63 as well? It's got less power than the 65 but still enough to move the earth back a bit everytime you floor it and sounds like a muscle car!

s63 no have twin turbos ^ ^ ^... s65 have twin turbos just like the s600... i am gonna put the brabus tune on it (those who know, know), turbo back piping that is hopefully not too noticeable, some rims with some 12" wide tires, lower it, tint, stereo, replace some lights and maybe the grill too, maybe a vip dress kit piece here or there, and then rock the shiz out of it.

it came down to how it would look modded and although the quattroporte sounds the best of all of them and has the most wow factor to me, and does look awesome lowered on some 20's, it just doesn't have that tough executive baller look of the S,,,,, plus i'm very confident that the S65 would walk all over it down the straight and maybe even into a few turns as well...

S65 = my most respected sedan currently. With 730ish ft/lbs of torque it's an absolute beast for sure. I would get the hell out the way if I ever saw one coming up behind. How much more would the Brabus tune give you? The S600/S65 already puts down soooo much power!!! Be sure to post up some pics here when you make the move to your next ride!

the new tune which is a little over 1k$ if my memory is correct gives the s65 about a +100 for both tq and hp, and the s600 about +70 for each hp and tq.

stock s65 is 604 hp @ 4,800 rpm; 738 ft lb
torque and it reaches the speed of 62 mph in 4.4

stock s600 is 612 tq and 510 hp 4.5 0-60

the tune only has shown to increase the 0-60 by about .1 on a stock car even after all the hp and tq gains only because the added power never makes it to the ground from 0-60 cuz of tire spin. if you put wider rear tires you get more power to the ground just like old muscle car dragsters in this case.

the s65 was a 200k car new and right now 07's are coming into the mid 70's. the 600 was a 150k new and can be had right now for the high 50's presently. next year the s600's will be touching the low 40's and the s65's the high 50's. just like a home if i get the car for a good deal i will have more money for upgrades

Back to thew Audi I have driven the A8 an 05 I think. Thought it handled way better than the LS and was pretty smooth and had all day comfort. I would own one in a second if it was near as relible as my LS

If you cant spell reliable, you're probably not in the running for a brand new A8.
