I was going to post something almost the exact same as dejavu asking what others thought about the difference in the 01-03 compared to the 04+ but everything was pretty much covered here. One thing i did find interesting is people wanting a low milage LS430. I thought thats why these cars are so loved is the reliabilty so should milage be that huge of a factor ? When researching for my LS400 i found MANY LS's with over 400k miles on them and that impressed me enough to buy a few high milaged lexus.

That is an understandable point. The older a car gets mileage wise the odds of wear and tear and incidental abuse increase which may add up to more costly repairs but in this car can be very expensive.

For instance my 04 has 132 k on it and never a problem it has a stellar history I can track every 5k oil change. But a curb incident, an obstacle in the road, vandalism may show up later in the life of the car in suspension, tranny or such problems beyond the reliability ratings we rave about. From like 20 to 15 grand for an LS you get 50 k more miles. I would just soon be on the front end of the odometer even if up front it costs more. For me to get any car with over a hundred to 120 k miles here is always more of the unknown I do not need.

These high mileage cars I think they are engineered enough to feel solid to 150k plus if hwy miles and maintained but do not be in a position where you hocked the farm and have not a pool available for repairs. Then you toss some money in them and cannot get it back if you sell em. Thats why even in the LS it is a buyers marker over 100-120 k.
