I'll post one of the two ls400's even tho this is an LS430 thread. However, since you're the OP, think the mods will find it o.k. The '90 blue one shown below was sold on Craig's list. The '91 silver ls400 (virtually the same except for chrome rims) was given to charity for auction so didn't take pics in preparation for sale.
Thought I'd miss 'em but the 430's are far more up to date as far as electronics go with the ride still smooth as glass.

mewhee - thanks, I just wanted to see your previous cars. I hope the moderators don't mind. I am glad to hear that you like your 430 better. I never had a 400, i was buying crappy cadillacs during those years. You are a lucky man, to have the nice cars that you do. Your 400's were cool too.
How many miles did you get on the 400s before you got the 430s?
Also, when you and the wife have the same cars do you just drive what ever or do you each have a designated auto?
Thanks so much for making this thread so much fun
Thank you to everyone for your continued posting of the 430s I can't wait to see more of these pretty cars. I think they look so good in stock trim.

The blue LS400 ('90) had 144k and the silver one ('91) had just under that.

No, she has the '06 Flint Mica ML and I have the '02 Millennium Silver but it has only 44k on it, of which all the miles have been local So. Cal. Even tho we have a 3 car garage, mine stays in the driveway, thus silver was mandatory due to So Cal's intense summer sun. Hers stays garaged as w/ the black interior and Flint exterior, heat wise it's a must, not to mention keeping it clean as her's shows the dust/dirt much quicker.
As to liking the 430 better, they're both great cars but in my opinion, the added electronics - tho costly to maintain should anything go wrong - makes driving even more pleasurable.
Truth be known and as another regular once posted, our next LS's have probably already been built (LS460's) but we'll wait for the first owner steep depreciation and mechanical kinks to be taken out of 'em before considering a switch. In the meantime, these LS430 'owner driven limousines' fit our lifestyle perfectly.
Good driving, Scott -

Yes, but I like their functionality. It would be great if automakers could design them into the bumper cover so that they don't show from the outside.Originally Posted by CarGuy89

Agreed! I'm bit surprised no one has done this yet, considering the sensors have been out around 10 yrs already.Originally Posted by caddyowner

I am sure it is due to cost, they can build the sensors into the plastic bumper cover, but that would make the bumper cover $2000.Originally Posted by CarGuy89

That's why they kept it separate, sensor is $250 each, bumper cover is $500.
The plastic bumper cover is probably one of the most frequently replace item on most cars, if it is $2k each, it is a big problem.
They can't hide the separate sensor behind the plastic cover either, as you can't block the radar's wave by the cover.

They could, it would look great but we will go crazy on the price of the $2k bumper cover when we have to buy one.Originally Posted by caddyowner

Not to mention if one sensor broke, you have to replace the entire bumper cover to fix one sensor. Now it is clear why they keep it separate.Originally Posted by CarGuy89
