2002 ls430 navigation off track
I bought a very clean 2002 Ls430 couple months ago but i noticed from the beginning that the navigation system goes often off track . For instance, it is showing that i am on a farmer road in OK city, while I am driving on highway 635 in Dallas , Tx. The Navigation manual didn't help fixing the issue for a long period....Did any one ever have this issue? if so, what did you?
Thanks for your prompt response.

Mine does that once in a while, but it's very accurate for the most part. Is this an intermittent problem or a constant one? Has it been happening ever since you had the car or did it start recently?

Hmmm while it might be a problem with your gps receiver, I think a large part has to do with the fact that you are in a big city. I was in NYC a few days ago and the gps unit (not the one in the car, I didnt drive the LS and brought a portable unit) kept thinking I was on a street I wasn't. The sheer number of roads probably confused it along with all the tall buildings that block proper reception. I think living in a big city might be a problem in itself. The portable gps I had was less than a yr old and it still acted up in the city. Do you notice this outside the city when roads aren't so busy and no tall buildings?

Raakom - that's a pretty big error for a GPS unit. They are typically accurate to about 25 meters. Yours sounds like its a 100 miles off. I have never heard of a GPS tracking with a 100 mile error. Most GPS use 3 super high precision clocks and tracking signals from 3 satellites to precisely time and triangulate its location. Usually if the GPS has an internal error it will just internally check fault out and not report any location at all.
