Never would have gotten these needles out of the diff without using the hand pump. They actually clogged the pump!
Those are shaved metal from the helical gears. Got thing you changed the fluid.

They are non-magnetic?? Really appear to be needles from a Christmas Tree.

A Mechanic I trust says they are no doubt metal shavings. Hmmm
