nused 2004 LS430 and some questions
Just picked up my nused LS430. I've had 3 LS400s and this is my first LS430.
It's dark blue with nav/ac front seats/sports suspension. I love it, but it will take time to learn all the "fun" things with the nav!
I noticed the "XM" on the radio. Does this mean something needs to be added to the system to use XM on it? Are there aftermarket parts or only OEM?
Another question I have is in regards to the FOB. I can see that it unlocks and starts the car with no problems. However, what I'm not clear on is whether the car locks by itself after I walk away. Anyone know the answer to that?
I'm sure I'll have other questions as I continue to learn other options.
Love those LSs!

Regarding the fob, if you have the smartaccess button under the dash turned on AND you have one of the master fobs (with a good battery) rather than the valet fob (master fob has a trunk button that works), you can do the following with the fob in your pocket:
- Open the locked car door (or all of them depending on setup) by touching the inside of the door handle
- Open the trunk by pressing the button under the right side of the lip above the license plate
- Start the ignition by twisting the ignition switch (and jiggling the steering wheel to make sure the lock mechanism doesn't prevent the switch from turning)
- Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the outside of any of the door handles.
If you walk away without pressing one of the lock buttons on the outside of the door handle, the car will not lock itself. If you don't have the fob on your person, you can't do any of the functions listed above.

My 04 LS430 locks itself however I am not sure of the circumstances. It seems however every time I walk up without my FOB it is locked!!!! The reason I know it locks itself is that I leave it in the garage with the windows down and UNlocked. Both of my ES' seemed to lock themselves as well. Again, I do not know the circumstances, I just know it happens to me all the time.

I have an 04 UL (Mercury Metallic, although that is irrelevant) and it never locks itself. There must be a programmable option that allows it to do that. Suggest you check with your Lexus dealer.

Look for something like this: http://www.myradiostore.com/xm-radio...-vais-slx.html or http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/br...ks-XMDTLK.HTML you can use the full function of the steering wheel controls and get text display on the nav screen.
Make sure you get the correct parts that will work, or have it installed professionally.
