Squeaky sun visors
I've driven LS400's and 430's since around 1990 and every one of them have had squeaky sun visors so I know that most all LS owners have the same issue. I've searched this forum and others looking for a solution to this annoyance. I haven't found a clear answer on this. When I was under warranty the dealer would fix it quickly and without complaint. I really doubt that they were installing new visors to fix them. Of course, that is what they want to do when I take it in now that I'm out of warranty. Does anyone have an insight on this? Are many of you just ignoring the squeak? I hate it most when I have others in my car and they're loving it and then I twist the visor down; squeeeeeeek. Yuck! I've had more that a few snide comments on this one.

There is a plastic rod in the hinge mechanism in the visor that rubs causing the squeak. If you flip open the visor then pop it off the inner hinge so that it is rotated down and pointing toward the back of the car, you can then pull the visor straight back revealing a long plastic rod that the visor rotates on. Put a little grease on this (there are even a few grease holding holes on it) and then push the visor back to 'normal'.
Let me know if you can follow that description... I never knew about this 'feature' (it can block the sun on the side of the car when it's further back on the window) until the squeak drove me crazy too.
