Default Replacing stock antenna with Sirius antenna?

Hi all,

2005 LS-430 UL with Mark Levinson system, factory nav etc.

I am having my Sirius unit (Vais Tech. SL2S) installed on Monday.
I have read on the forum here that the stock roof antenna is not being used.

I was wondering if we can remove and replace with the Sirius antenna or possible another antenna from a Lexus (or any car for that matter) that has a Sirius antenna integrated within.

Does the LS-460 shark fin have a Sirius antenna integrated within?

Any thoughts, suggestions would be great!

Thanks, Tom

The roof antenna was used for the Lexus-link even if you were not equipped with it. Guess Lexus found it easier to just have the thing on every car than to have it when you had the Lexus-link. The antenna is a satellite antenna, so I would imagine you could easily hook it up with your VAIS and get satellite radio reception through it.

Others more knowledgable will chime in that have done it before.

I have two antennas. Looks a little silly.

They have not gotten to the roof antenna yet.
Has anyone else tried to hook sirius up to the factory antenna? Is it compatible?
Still looking for any suggestions.

You could use the roof location since there is a hole and such, however a satellite antenna is completely incompatible with that factory thing. XM is 2,332.50 through 2,345.00 MHz and Sirius is 2,320.00 through 2,332.50 MHz. If you find a SAT antenna that looks cool, let us know.
