Default Chrome Shift Gate Bezel Rattle

I've finally located the persistant, annoying rattle in my '02 UL 430. It's the dang chrome bezel around the shift gate. If I lightly press on the left side near the Neutral area, it goes away. So I need to take that thing off and put some kind of padding behind it. I've search the forums but have not found how to do this. Does anybody know if it's possible to remove just this piece, or do I need to remove the whole center console wood covering that it's attached to?

search for the ashtray replacement console removal threads - there are pics there discussing how to take the wood console and shift bezel off. You probably should remove and detail clean it all and then see if anything is loose or not fitting well. May just need some foam tape applied at strategic spot or two.

The chrome bezel comes right off just pull on it lightly or get a panel removing tool it rakes 2 seconds to get it off.

I had a Similar rattle on my LS430...With a thin flat screwdriver covering with electrical tape...i went around all four corner by popping it up...then pull the chrome bazel out and covered it with felt tape...and put back all together....
No rattle at all...as felt tape damped the noise.
