My front passenger door lock does not lock when I put the car into drive. If I lock it manually it won't unlock when I turn off the engine. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

 

I'm getting mine fixed on Wednesday, same door/side. It's the motor most likely, mine is. It's a $5 dollar part but a costly repair. I purchased an extended warranty so it's covered, but if was not, I'd probably ignore it.

 

Thanks for your reply. I just called a local shop that specializes in Lexus repairs. He said it's probably the door lock actuator. Replacing with a new one is $600. They can rebuild the existing one for $300. I guess I can live with the problem!

 

Mine just failed too.... 2002 on the passenger door... noticed it was not beeping when I locked it.... Anyone attempt to replace the actuator themselves????

 

Check the threads. I believe someone actually did a point by point replacment of the actuator. It was very impressive....and is a lot of work.
