satellite radio questions/ issues
so i had satellite radio in my 05 since i bought it (aftermarket install by previous owner), it went out last week, i ordered a whole new toy-sir + scc1 kit to have installed. it now works again however it used to work where the up and down steering wheel controls would go through the preset stations like on FM and such and now the up and down steering wheel controls go up and down 1 station at a time (i.e. 1,2,3,4). Also the rear seat (UL) audio controls up and down are no longer functioning.
has anyone else experienced this? do your up and down on your steering wheel go through the presets or 1,2,3,4 style?

MY satellite problem is loss of signal when going under any underpass, even at 70 mph - I lose the signal for only a split-second, but it sure is annoying. I can't live with that. Hoping a better antenna will help. I may buy a new one.

has anyone had the sirius with ipod? I had in it my ES and the ipod functionality was quirky at best. I want both but if I have to choose then I will take ipod... sorry to get off topic. it was this one plus the tuner...

does anyone who has satellite radio ever use the steering wheel controls to cycle through the stations???? if so, does it go 1,2,3,4,etc or does it cycle through your presets???

Mine cycles through the presets I've made for XM SAT radio. So that would be 1 through 6 from the presets that you've made. It doesn't cycle up one radio station, just to your next preset.

yeah this is how mine used to work, now it goes up or down only 1 station at a time and is a huge pain in the butt compared to how convenient it used to be. thanks for the answer... also is your kit pretty old or fairly new, as my old one was cool but just replaced with a new sat radio kit and it no longer does what the old one did?

Ok, I checked mine today - The steering wheel up/down buttons only move channels thru the presets on that page (SAT1, SAT2, or SAT3).
I have an older SIR-PAN1 Sirius tuner with a Vaistech SL2S (w/old 4.36 firmware)

well thank you for checking walt, it appears that the newer controller or firmware on that unit is making it go up or down 1 channel at a time instead of through the presets. i never realized how awesome this actually was until i no longer have the ability to use it.
i am 300$ into this new satellite radio setup with parts and labor but i seriously wish i could somehow get my old hardware working again or figure out how to get it back to the way it was. grrrrrrr.....

has anyone installed a sirius satellite radio recently? i have just put in the toy-sc1 and scc1 and was wondering if this is the one that everyone else has installed in their ls430 that has installed it recently?
if you have this setup does your up and down on the steering wheel go through the presets or 1 station at a time like 1,2,3,4, etc....???? thanks for checking.

so let me get this straight before i drive down and curse out the stereo shop, seriously... so you had the toy-sc1 and scc1 setup with no other stuff like a vaistech thing and the steering wheel went presets?? this was in an 04-06 ls430 as well? also my rear seat (UL) audio up and down arrows (channel changer) doesn't work with this new sirius setup.

My XM Sat unit was already installed in my 05 CL when I bought the car 2 years ago. I've always presumed it was the factory XM unit that was installed which is probably what it is.
The only way I've found to manually go up one station at a time is to use the tune up\down buttons near the cassette player. My up\down controls on the left hand side of the steering wheel have always moved between the SAT presets in the Nav unit.
