for the instructions on how to operate nav while in motion, search here or on YouTube. On the volume screen, touch the screen in a sequence
Left Upper corner > Left Lower corner > Left Upper corner > Left Lower corner

Select and hold "OVERRIDE" for a few seconds.... ready to go.

On the '04, if you have the original version 4.1 DVD, then this manual override will work, but if it was updated at any point to version 6.1 or greater, this manual override does NOT work anymore. This is sort of why I've been hesitant to upgrade, but in my 1+ years of owning my '04 now, I've not had to use the override much, so I'm thinking of getting the 9.1 when the price drops.

Default Gen 4 v 6.1

I'm pretty sure the 2006 was still Gen 4 DVD, but version 6.1 already, so the manual procedure described above would NOT work. I've also heard it's not backwards compatible, so if anyone upgrades from 4.1 to say 6.1 and loses the override, then going back to 4.1 would not restore it. Not sure if that's true or not as I have not tried this.
