You are ordering the Lexus coils and Tanabe's? Lexus of South Atlanta Parts is a good source for OEM parts. There are a few others. When I put Tanabe's on my LS400 I just searched google for the cheapest source. I also went with new KYB's shocks from RockAuto. Be prepared for a pretty drastic ride change. The worst part of the Tababe's is putting 4 adults in the car and luggage in the trunk. The car did not ride well with this kind of weight. The air suspension on the other hand is fantastic. Rides great with 1 person or 5 and a packed trunk.

Well I Haven't ordered yet have been doing research to order this weekend
My previous 1995 LS had coilovers rode great but I i don't need the adjustability this time around
All my research led me to believe oem sport shock plus tanabe was fantastic
However now I am back to square one after reading your post
I have 4 people in the car a lot . I can't ruin the ride (thus I got rid of my new wrx) , but I would like to lower 1-1.5 inches with ride as close to oem as possible
What are your opinion ? I am all ears

Yeah, I don't mean to rain on your parade but this was the biggest downside to the Tanabe's. I mean with two adults is was not too bad. The handling was great I will admit. I did not load my LS400 up that often but I'll never forget picking up some coworkers from the airport. 4 - 200 pound adults with luggage in the trunk, she would basically bottom out on certain road conditions. The car handled great but anyone who says the ride does not change is out of their mind. Especially from a UL to Tanabe's. Nothing rides like air. Here is a couple shots of the stance on the 400 with SC430 18's and some spacers.

Pick one of those choices Lowering a car's suspension while carrying passengers and hoping for a close-to-oem ride won't really happen unfortunately.
The 3rd gen LS was basically a Japanese limo.
The reason most aftermarket mods fail is that the springs and shocks are not properly matched. The aftermarket does not have a good answer to this. If it helps, I consider my 2gs' ride fantastic for its handling and performance. All stock.
