02 LS430 laser cruise
The outside sensor on my 2002 LS430 was damaged. Dealer advises the entire unit needs to be replaced at over $1,700. I don't use this feature and only want to use the normal cruise although this sensor shuts everything down. Any way to bypass the laser version so the regular cruise will work?
yeah. as soon as you tun the car on (or anytime while in park), press the outer button on the cruise lever to turn cruise control on (it will say "radar ready" on the dash) then press the cruise lever back and hold it back for about 3 seconds, it will switch the radar off and just say "cruise ready" or something like that.
you can't do it while the car is in motion because the second you enable cruise control, the radar will run a power on and through a "check cruise control system" warning.
