The Service Bulletin # is EG012-06

The part needed to replace is: 77201-50080 Pipe sub-assembly, fuel.

The Service Bulletin call out 2 hours labor to do the job.

To the OP, unless that dealer have a labor rate of $200 per hour, they are ripping you off.

I really appreciate all the advice.

So here is the deal:

Dealer wanted $99.61 for the gas filler Part #77201-50080 and $400. for labor.

I declined to spend that since I was already $2200 poorer for the 90K service including the belts, pump etc

Including $237.38 for the gravel shield.

I will try the gas filling methods mentioned here for the short run.

In the meantime I think I better make friends with the local Toyota dealer. Mybuddy has had his Lexus service there for the past 7 years and says they love to work on Lexus and they are 35% less expensive.

The Lexus dealer is very nice and helpful but just way too expensive.

Same is happening on my 05 ls430

If I put gas to lock the pump it does it

If I don't lock and pull it out just a bit no issue

Debating on replacing the filler neck as you guys suggest (does rear quarter panel body area needs to be taken off ?) or living with it

I have experienced this as well. More so in the last 6 months. Putting the nozzle to the side fixes the problem. It makes it particularly frustrating as here in NJ you can't pump your own gas.

i can't imagine how much fun it will be when I take it to Oregon (similar like nj no pumping own gas)

Are you fixing yours ?

I took two tanks so far
One yesterday and one with Lexus dealer last week prior to purchase

Same issue both times

Noticed if I pull the nozzle out a bit and don't amuse gas auto function it works

I will try your to the side technique

Take it to a body shop they tend to be alot cheaper then any auto shop. They do this kind of work all the time.

Happened all the time with my '01. It was much more prevalent at Chevron gas stations though for some reason.
