i realized that the mode button on my 01 LS can turn on the radio but can't turn off the stereo while the same button on my 02 SC430 can turn the unit on and off

isn't that weird? or is it just mine broken???

 

Hem... good question. Not sure, mine can turn it on to last "mode" that it was in before being turned off, but I've never turned the radio off with it. I usually just use the voice command "Audio Off" and that's that.

I'm so lazy now with the various voice commands and buttons on the left side. My left hand fingers have gotten much bigger and stronger now...

 

The mode button only turn off the radio in the SC430 so you don't have to open the wood panel to access the volume **** to turn it off.

The SC430 is the only Lexus that have a panel covering the radio.

Your LS430 mode button is not broken.
