Default Wood Dash Panel Question

I have a 2003 without Bluetooth phone service and I want to add this to my car. I have selected a Parrot 3100 system which required a small display mounted somewhere in the car. It is 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 3/8". I would like to mount this on the center console on the left side below the cd compartment. Rather than mount it on the outside of the wood panel, I thought I could order an additional wood panel for this spot and cut the proper size opening to insert the display for a cleaner look to the installation. My question is where can I order a replacement panel for my car and is there anything behind this panel that would prevent me from installing the display. The panel I want to use has the toggle switch for different driving conditions on the right side.

Thanks,

Greg

I don't quite understand. You want to mount it on the lower wood panel? but you want a replacement panel as well?

Yeah, not quite sure what you're trying to accomplish here. You're talking about the trim that houses the snow/power and traction control button right? So you want another piece to cut out the dimensions of your switch and then put that over the existing trim? Won't that stand out? Can't picture it...

Here is a thread on another forum where member jainla installed a Parrot 3100 display in the center storage box of his 2001 LS430 UL: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...howtopic=33012

As was jainla's 01 LS430, your 03 LS430 was prewired for a dealer installed Lexus phone kit and you might be able to use some of the prewire phone harness for your phone kit install. I used the mute pin in the phone prewire harness under the center console of my 00 LS400 when I installed a phone kit.

IMO, there isn't a particularly good place to install a Parrot or similar phone kit LCD display in any LS. The Parrot 6100 display looks the easiest to install and you might be able to position it higher where it would be more useful: http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/ha.../parrot-mk6100

If I were to replace our older non-Bluetooth phone kits, I would likely install Motorola IHF1000 bluetooth kits -- they are available in the U.S. and are currently sold as dealer installed accessories by Lexus and Toyota dealers in the UK and Europe with charging cradles that supply power and an antenna connection for many popular Bluetooth phones. Mounting a charging cradle on a leather phone console provides about the same functionality as a separate phone kit LCD display and, of course, keeps the phone fully charged.

The reason I want another panel piece is in case I screw up the cut out for the display, I still have the original replacement panel. I guess I am being overly conservative.

I am hoping there is room behind the wood panel to insert the display flush with the front on the wood pannel so it looks more built in.
