Default which data systems controller

so i take it everyone with the ul and the data system controller pretty much went with the ASC680??

i have seen this product for like 350$ (not sure if this includes the harness) on some japanese yahoo auction sites (like someone else on this site mentioned) and for like $605 + $145 (for the harness) on some elite company website bringing it to like $800 with tax shipping & handling. This seems to be a huge range of price for the same product. what is a good price for a used one and would you guys trust a used one?

where have you guys gotten yours from, and at what price range??

i will be in japan in 2 weeks and was wondering if i should just check there but like many other things i may get back here and find out that it is not compatible at all with the stateside car.

thanks for the help.

If you check in the LS classified you can catch some selling for $550-$650, some sell w/ and w/out harnesses......

Another member here had bought one from the Japan Yahoo site, can't remember who though. Anyhow, it was indeed much less than the US companies who in turn orders it from Japan anyway. I got mine from Carson Toyota (a CL Sponsor) in Cali. Think it was $630 (with harness) shipped or something like that.

i:m in japan right now at an internet cafe in osaka and i just stopped by an autobox (japanese super auto parts store) looking for the data systems controller and they wanted 71400 yen for it and with todays yen rate being 92 yen to the dollar that would make it approx 771$ dollars to purchase it from a store here. i think i will just wait till i get back to the states to find one.

well i searched yahoo.jp auctions and they had them on there for like 350$ but i am not sure if it has the harness or not i cannot read japanese and my wife was not there to translate, but i am guessing for that price that it is only the controller (which is still a freakin bargin and a half). in the auto parts store it was like 775$ depending on the exchange rate at that time, so i will try to go the auction japan route if i can't find a good deal from a cl member or anything.
