Default 2001 fuel filter and tranny filter

I was told by my mechanic that the ls430 fuel filter and tranny filters were not changeable, meant to last a lifetime.

is this so ? at the same time I hear other people on this forum who have replaced them.

Lot of the newer model Toyota and Lexus (2000+) typically have the fuel filters in the tank (where the fuel pick up is). They have done away with the inline fuel filter.

Both the trans and fuel filter are non-servicable items. Which you don't typically replace them at a predetermined mileage as you would with the old inline fuel filters. If the filters become clogged and fail then it is time to replace other than that its up to your own disgression to replace them and not have to worry about it going out on you.

Hope this helps.
