just like we can turn off the automatic rear view mirrors. Can we turn off the automatic retracting steering wheel ?

 

Its the short answer.... no

 

I believe it's a setting that you can have turned off at the dealer.

See if there's a fuse for it, try pulling that off.

 

I read that somewhere too, the dealer can turn it off.

 

It takes only a few minutes to customize a variety of LPS settings with a scan tool with the appropriate program card.

I can't seem to upload the LPS settings doc as an attachment (too big) but you can find one for the LS460 at http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/LS_LPS.pdf

The are fewer customizable settings for the LS430 and fewer still for the 98-00 LS400 but the tilt/telescope can be turned off on all models that have it.

The only setting I have had changed on my 00 LS400 is to increase the time the dome light stays on - to the maximum - after closing the doors.

Changing LPS settings does not have to be done at a Lexus dealers. Many indie repair shops have scan tools and program cards.

 

Can I ask a stupid question? Why? That is one of the best features ever invented, especially if you are tall. It makes getting in and out of the car so much easier.

 

i was just going to ask that, why would someone want to turn it off.
not only is it wonderful when i get out but i love to show it off just like the mirrors, girls love it lol
