I'm thinking about purchasing a used 2005 or 2006 LS with navigation. Can you tell me whether the navigation system for those years allowed a passenger to enter a destination while driving? If the answer is yes, does the feature get wiped out when the DVD is updated?

 

Just take a peek at the FAQ at the top of this forum for the link to Airtimes utube video on how to access the Override feature. I can confirm it works like a charm on my '05. As for the update (7.1) I have it but its not installed yet so I can't confirm if the override feature is still there.

With V6.1, you can override using the manual method or via hardware add on. Updating to V7.1, you loose the ability to override with any method.

Once you have loaded V7.1 in your Nav in the trunk and try to use the V6.1, it still does not work as file is loaded into memory. You will have to pull a fuse or unhook the battery cable for a bit to wipe V7.1 out of memory. Then place your V6.1 disk back in if you want.

 

are you sure "airtime", b/c my 6.1 doesn't do manual over ride, only on my 5.1... am I missing something??? off the subject, do you know where the headlight washer switch is?

 

My bad, I was thinking about my modded v6.1 with the v5.1 file.

 

So it seems that 6.1 is the best version to get if one wants to do a manual or hardware override.... The only question is how does one obtain 6.1?

 

V6.1 should be available on eBay or other CL members who have upgraded to V7.1. Just make sure you are purchasing the correct Generation Disk, ie. Gen 3, Gen 4, etc. that correspond to your nav system.
