digital compass

hey everyone. i have a 2001 UL ls430 w/o navi cause i'm from canada and that wasnt offered that year... BUT i can't seem to get the digital COMPASS to show on my tach part where the temperature shows... in the manual it says to hold disp 2 and it willl show up..

any ideass why it doenst work?

Not sure, i thought disp 2 would do it. Try holding it some more, or something.
