OK, I have reviewed every post on this thread and NOWHERE do I see the 04 LS-430 mentioned. Its either 01 to 03 or 05 or 06, but not 04. I would not worry about it except that I have an O4 and NONE of the above mentioned methods of temporarily enabling the GPS while driving works on my car.

To do this reset, is it necessary that the engine be running, or ignition just turned on?

I have tried both, and neither works.

I cant see why it would make a difference which map CD I have because the GPS software is probably not on the disk, its most likely firmware in the unit. BUT on the off chance they somehow made them interlink, I have Map version 15.1 2016

RESET AGAIN
Now, RESET again. Assume there s NO way to do the temporary enable. I will do the permanent wiring change.
If I do that and DONT want to switch back, it would seem that cutting the purple/white wire and grounding the end toward the DVD unit and wrapping some tape around the other end would make the change PERMANENT and NOT Switched.....no other mods needed.....RIGHT.????
