2005 LS 430 cooled / climate seats not cooling enough
When you look at the units under the seats, there is clearly more than just a fan there. I'll take a picture, it's pretty obvious (even as per all of the Lexus brochures) that these seats are indeed "actively" cooled. However, I think that what happens over time is that the "air pocket" breaks down.

Not sure why everyone thinks this is a scam?
If i remember correctly, Lexus marketed this as ventilated/heated seats... no one said anything about cool.
The Blue half of the circle is there to differentiate between ventilation and seat warmers.

and here is a quote from the Lexus website:
"Front and rear climate-comfort seats with heat/cool ****"

For those that have actually looked closely at the units....
I assume these pull in air from directly under the seat correct? There is an AC vent for the rear under the Driver/Pass seat yes? I would think it couldn't be to hard to hook up a flexible hose and steal that air from the rear and duct it to the intake of the fan.
Are the fans that are used in the 460 larger than the fan in the 430? Swap?
As a side note, before I read this thread, I too noticed an increase in air flow when the lumbars were fully back.

For cars that only have ventilated/heated seats like a 06' ES330, the **** only have white and red, no blue at all.
As DaveGS4 correctly pointed out in post #11, both the LS430 and LS460 has cooling seats, Lexus call them climate-comfort or climate-control seats, the blue section of the **** indicate cooling. The white section means ventilated with ambient temperature air, red means heating.

Thanks to those who have contributed. I was puzzled by why my front seat cooler is not effective.
The way the seat is constructed really makes sitting in them 'hot' in the front seats, as compared to the LS 400, and makes you want to turn on the seat coolers even more, which are not at all effective by design.
I have resolved to turning the air conditioning way up front and back (if equipped), it really made a difference - as the circulating air in the footwells is cool enough to begin with helping draw cool air into the seat 'fan'. I have tried moving the lumbar support back, which helped a tiny bit. Changing the filters does not work, which are probably not clogged anyway.
The position of the knee airbags have really hampered the effectiveness of the air conditioning in the footwells. And the front seats on the LS 430 are too soft by design and not as comfortable as the LS 400. Nevertheless, the LS 430 is more fuel efficient, more refined, a safer car, and more competent compared to the LS 400.

during the summer months I place a piece of soft foam under the full width of the back of the seat on the floor,, lower the seat onto it and it stops the floor air from blowing into the back,, allows the seat fan a more generous amount of cool air under the seats for the fans to blow into the seats,,
even the DW notice the improvement,,
