Default Need Help with lowering using sensor

To those who have lowered your car using the manual sensor rod adjustment, I need a little bit of help. Just tried doing that today. Actually really easy to get to and to adjust the rod. Literally under a minute. My problem is, should the sensor be low or high? See image below and let me know which number is should be at? 1, 2, or 3. I left the engine running and adjusted it from high to low and didn't notice any effect. I even drove around the block after each setting. So I thought it might be broken so I flip the Norm/High switch to High and drove around the block, came back and it was noticeably higher so the air suspension is working. Could it be both front sensors are bad or did I adjusted the opposite and raised the car instead? Also, I only did the front, have not touch the back yet, does that matter? Thanks in advance, Dave.

Position #1, the trick is to shorten the rod or in your case the spacing between the nuts. It should adjust in a minute or two sitting still.

Thanks, Dr Jekyll. Is you sensor lever lower than the image above? and does it make that much more difference? I suspect I can get a shorter threaded rod made as it's pretty tiny and doesn't support any weight other than keeping the sensor in place. Does your sensor lever give you any feed back when you flip it up and down? Mine seems to be pretty free floating like its attached to nothing other than the nut holding it, no friction at all.
