Rear upper ball joint, will I have enough space to torque it?
I'm going to be replacing my rear upper control arms this weekend and I'm wondering if I'll have enough space in that area once the arms are swapped to use a torque wrench for retorquing the ball joint nut? I know from some discussions about swapping rear struts that the area is considered pretty hard to work in, and I ran into a similar issue with my front upper control arms where a torque wrench wouldn't fit in the area once I went for a final install.
I just replaced mine. You will not have enough space to get a torque wrench and socket in there unless you remove the whole axle. Luckily i believe the torque spec for the ball joint is 52ft/lbs which is pretty doable with some elbow grease. So i just got a 17mm wrench and gave it a few arm ugga duggas.
What you need is maybe a Torque Wrench, not a Torque Ratchet.

You can also get crowfoot adapters for Torque Ratchets such as

You do need to adjust your torque settings depending on the length of the adapter though.
