im trying to find out if I can change the head unit in my 2001 ls 430 to the version with the screen in it or if it wouldn’t work.

 

Over the years I don't remember anyone here that has put an oem nav unit in place of a non nav unit car. Could be but don't remember. Might be a whole lot to change.

 

Are you wanting the NAV unit to work? You are talking about getting the DVD player and installing it in the wheel well and a ton of wiring and I believe a different amp as the NAV units were the Mark Levinson stereo system. Also, not sure about all the converting from a manual control HVAC to the NAV screen that had all the controls, and then the audio controls. I would evaluate how much you want this or why.

 

I guess technically it’s possible. Is it worth the time/effort/money? Absolutely not.
