I was adjusting the front height sensors for my newly acquired 2003 LS430 and noticed the passenger brake hose was kinked. Looks like the prior owner did the brakes and twisted up the brake line. Not sure if I can just remove the caliper and rotate it to orient the line correctly or should I just replace the line since there may have been some undue wear being kinked up?
On a positive note... shortening the front drivers side height sensor rod and lengthening the front passenger side rod seems to have leveled the car out. Before it was sagging a little in the RR and a little high in the LF.
I'm pretty sure the caliper was just rotated wrong when the prior owner did the brakes as I don't think the brake line was removed. I did order a set of caliper bolts from Bell Lexus since they are on sale and free shipping. The brake hose is still pretty pricey even with the discounts (~$55/ea)... can get some off rockauto for $10-$14/each for raybestos, centric or AC Delco. Stainless steel braided lines aren't too expensive for the front (StopTech ~$60 for front pair delivered) but not sure on the quality. I've used stainless steel lines on both my 96 Impala SS and currently on my Pontiac G8 (Russell) and the pedal feel was improved on both. There is always the downside of the stainless lines not being made properly and leaking so not sure about the stop tech lines and may just replace the one side for now with one of the rockauto lines.
