Brake replacement cost
 

I was wondering what would guys would consider to be a fair price to replace rotors, bake pads, and replace the brake fluid at and independent shop, labor only. Thanks

$400 - $600 is where I would be comfortable with replacing the parts and doing a full brake fluid flush.

I can provide some inputs. I just replaced all 4 rotors + all brake pads using OEM parts from Bell's Lexus, and had independent shop install them. My total cost is around $700 which included parts + labor.

One thing to mention if you provide the parts the shop may or may not warranty the labor if part fails so ask up front.

My local "Mom and Pop" Toyota dealer quotes $500 to $550 labor for pads, rotors and a brake fluid flush.

If you are able to where you live (or a friend's place) Brakes are probably one of the best things to learn to do yourself! It gets pretty grimy, but you really only need sockets, breaker bar, 4 lb hammer and a C-clamp+ 2x4 piece .

To bleed the brakes,, I use a vacuum extractor w the rubber fitting for brake bleeders - just pump the handle and crack it open! It builds tons of pedal pressure, and its a one person job.

And FWIW, I just did my IS350 rear brakes and the passenger caliper was frozen! Its even a low mileage car, so you never know if there may be extra issues.

You will not be getting quality/premium parts at this price point, unless the shop is very small or very, very reasonable. Where I live I only install e-coated rotors and ceramics for customers because I don't want comebacks on brake noise, but just about any shop around me will absolutely slap shitty white label pads and rotors and not even perform caliper service at this price. I am a small shop (two guys) so we can afford to install premium components at reasonable prices (around $600).

Pricing varies greatly by region. Make some phone calls and read some reviews.

I could never pay someone else to do brakes for me, if I was concerned with cost. IMO if you can do an oil change you can do brakes. These cars are so simple.

There can be a large difference in the performance of brake component's. In today’s world of auto parts be careful, very careful especially with brake parts. This fellow is honest in this explanation per se. Stay with non Chinese legacy or OE parts and stop your 4000lb projectile the best you can. Bell Lexus North Scottsdale has a nice sale on OE Lexus parts at the present time. Save a substantial costs. Used these guys for the past 15 years. A parts rep will help if needed.

Im about to tackle my brakes and have been collecting the parts. Just waiting on the brake lines to ship. Im starting to think my parts cost is steep after seeing some of these quotes. Ill be doing the labor myself. Ebc front and rear rotors and pads with stoptech ss braided lines.

There is little room to make mistakes although it is related to safety.
