Bluetooth Phones Again!
Hello Jennifer!
After seeing my choices for bluetooth phones, I decided to wait to buy one until next spring when many more choices are coming out. As you can see from this forum, so many new LS owners are trying to find out what phone to buy. Lexus just may have achieved the new technology before too many products were available to choose from...
However since I was in need of a new phone, ATT is offering their v60 flip for $75 and give you a $75 rebate to send in. Its an awesome phone to get you by for sure until more bluetooth phones come out in a few months.
How about posting some pics of your new car? Silver/black right?

yes, silver w/ black. I will post pics as soon as it gets washed! LOL. I am really enjoying the car, and the Nav really comes in handy. Two complaints, though: 1) my radio reception is not all I'd hoped for. I have 950 miles on it already, and next week it goes to the Dealer for the 1000 mile check, and I will mention the problem to them and 2) the aggravating "I Agree" button with each start up on the Nav screen. UGGGHHH

I am using the Nokia 6310i with AT&T service and am very pleased. In my last LS (02) I had a Motorola car kit installed for the V60 phone--this 04 system is better. It mutes the radio when you get a call; lets you keep talking on your call when you start the car or when you stop and turn the car off. I prefer a flip phone, but with this one I just keep the keys locked and leave it in my pocket. If you do a search for Bluetooth you will find more info in this LS430 forum.
Jennifer!
I'm loving it! Although like you I'm also a little disenchanted with the "I Agree" contract you must sign off on every time you drive. I've never had a black car before, so I'm spending a fortune at the carwash. (Brushless of course).
I took it on a little trip over Thanksgiving so I now have about 2,000 miles on it. What did your family and friends think of your new car? I had not told anyone about mine and they all went nuts over it. The rear camera/Nav, ML stereo and electric rearshade were the favorites for most everyone, as was the Smartkey.
I also had the dealer customize it with tinted windows...35% up front & 20% in the rear. I'll post some pics as well when it clears up in St.Louis... P.S. Thanks for the tip on the placement of the smartkey...

Thanks for your input on my Q about the euro sport back some time ago. Have now decided ,without driving one to go with the standard suspension for about 50 different reasons. (Roads in NJ are often patched with the prospect of them getting worse because of state and fed money problems for the foreseeable future, I'm not really an aggresive driver, and getting less so as I push 70, may go to one car in a few years which would leave this as a winter car which would be better with 17 inch wheels, my wife would prefer a smoother ride, I prefer the custom lux interior and on and on). I will do a full dau test drive os the standard suspension before I sign the papers for black/ecru custom lux with smart key.
I've had a number a of black cars including my current 98 GS400. Never have seen a car wash and I caution you you about regular or frequnt use of them on a black car(brushless or not) . There will be a slow buildup of damage to that incredible L:exus black paint. Find a hand wash place and pay a little more.
You're a lucky guy to be enjoying your LS so much.

In response to your original post in regards to BlueTooth enabled phones. As far as choices, in usa, you may only have AT&T or T-mobile carriers that have either Sony-Ericsson or Nokia GSM bluetooth enabled phones. I have yet to see a CDMA based (e.g. Verizon) phone with BlueTooth.
I personally use a T610 Sony ( I work for Sony, so I am biased). However, most if not all of the new phones from any manufactures should be fine. Since the phones, I have are GSM based, there are two sets of phone directories, one on SmartCard (SIM) and one on the NVRAM in the phone. I prefer the SIM storage since It makes it portable from phone to phone( but limited to 256 entries).
As far as downloading those into the car, It wil be a slow process, albiet one time. I wonder what happens if the battery is disconnected though. Anyways, I am pretty happy with the BlueTooth phone and their integration for now.

anikzad, I have a SE-T610 cell phone and you can upload the whole phone book to the LS430. First, on the LS430 select Information>phonebook>transfer and then on your phone, select phonebook>advanced>send all. Wait until your device (the car) pops up on the phone screen (this sometimes takes a few seconds) , select it, and your done! Another forum member "Deep" explained how to do this.
One thing to consider: I upload my Outlook contact list to my phone and when transferring to Lexus it will only show the *first* phone number for that user. So, if you have multiple numbers (i.e., mobile business, etc.) the first one will show.

My LS430 UL was delivered to me yesterday, very happy so far. I use a new phone Sony P900, and it will bond with the Lexus bluetooth but the Lexus does not recognise that the phone has bonded. I see the car headset on my phone but the car just sits there asking for me to input the pairing code or press cancel.
My Girlfriend has a Nokia 3650 that works great with the car. Paired up instantly... no problems! Any suggestions?

MarkMc, sounds like you need to make your phone visible or you have some other security on. My vehicle did not ask for a pairing code to be input but my phone did. Once I put in that code all was well. BTW, you might try it where there is no interference, i.e., girlfriend's phone, microwave oven, cordless phones, WiFi, etc. Bluetooth has a very short range, like 33 feet, and it is in the same freq. as WiFi communation devices (2.4ghz), so these can and will interfer. Also, did you try connecting your phone to your girlfriends to make sure it is sending and receiving?
Good luck.
Good luck.
Marc,
As far as I know about bluetooth, there is sort of security on initial handshake, your lexus comes with a default code of I think 1234. need to insert this into the SONY phone, the phone is doing the rght thing by asking a pairing code. I can not understand how the Nokia is working for more information on bluetooth, refer to www.bluetooth.org

On the Lexus it asks you to input the code 1234 into the phone.. when you do so on the nokia it recognizes the lexus and then you connect to the lexus, it see the nokia and the screen that said input pairing code on phone disappears replaced by the name you have assigned to the phone. On the Sony Ericsson P900 everything is the same, except the Lexus screen that says input pairing code never goes away, it never acknowledges the Sony. The only option on that screen is cancel, and of course that prevents you from adding the phone to the Lexus.
I upgraded the firmware of the Sony P900 to the latest version but still have no success. I am VERY impressed with this phone, and really hate to buy another phone just to use it with the Lexus. Any more suggestions out there?
Thanks for the replies.

Mark,
Ok now I understand the problem. I will try to get my hands on a 900 model and try it with my car. I will let you know if I have any information for you. It's been hard to get the new models for us (employees) since there is such a high demand for the phones, must steal one....

MarkMc,
I read on another website that the P900 only supports Bluetooth headsets, but doesn't support in-vehicle Bluetooth hands-free systems. That might be why you're only seeing a headset icon on the phone, and it isn't connecting to the vehicle.
