Flat Tire - No warning Light
I had new tires installed, set pressures and initialized the system. Drove 100 miles or so on the interstate. Someone pulled up next to me and pointed to my passenger side rear wheel. Was driving 75 mph - no vibration or warning light. Pulled off next exit, which was some 10 miles later. Right rear was flat. Turned out to be a bad valve stem.
the system did not throw a warning - I’m guessing the tire was low for 15-20 miles at least.
does anyone know why the system didn’t warn me?
thanks.

The tyre probably didn't stay at a stable rolling radius for long enough for the system to establish a base-line, so it never completed the reset/initialisation process.
The reset takes about 50-60 miles after you hit the reset button.
Did they not fit new valve stems with the new tyres? I always get new stems with new tyres.
If it was a new one, it could have been a ham fisted fitter who damaged it.

We had trouble with a slow leak in that tire. They inflated to 70 lbs and immersed it in water to try to locate. They finally replaced the first tire on that wheel, so they made the effort to find and resolve it. In retrospect, I should have asked them if they had replaced the valve stem.
Just thought it was a bit strange that there was no warning, but what you say makes sense. Thanks!
